Adrian se marchó de casa temprano y se llevó al perro. Viajó en un camión de cerdos y de pescado, se duchaba poco y sólo una vez pudo lavar su ropa en una lavandería. Escuchaba las noticias para saber qué decían de su desaparición, pero parecía que sus padres no le echaban en falta todavía. Fue su cumpleaños y lo pasó solo y triste.
Una noche durmió a las puertas de una iglesia. Al día siguiente se despertó en una habitación; una mujer le había recogido al verle durmiendo en la calle. Llamó a sus padres para que vinieran a recogerle. Adrian tenía ganas de volver a casa.
