George Mole recibió una carte de su jefe para darle un toque de atención: no estaba trabajando mucho durante esos días, y la verdad era que el señor Mole regresaba a casa antes de tiempo. Después de aquello, empezó a esforzarse más en su trabajo.
La familia Mole fue a casa de Pandora, pasar darle una lista de las cosas que tenían que hacer ella y sus padres en casa de Bert, mientras que ellos se iban de vacaciones. El padre de Pandora no dejó que su hija se fuera de vacaciones con Adrian, porque había que pagar mucho dinero, y Pandora no tenía nada ahorrado. De manera que Adrian pasaría las vacaciones solo con su familia.
A la señora Mole ya se la empezaba a notar la barriga de embarazada, y se la enseñaba a la gente orgullosa. Adrian no podía soportar verlo y tenía que marcharse a su habitación siempre que su madre lo hacía.
“Rio Grande” era una casa que pertenecía a Bernard Porke; allí cada habitación estaba alquilada a una familia diferente y el salón y la cocina eran las salas comunes. El señor Porke era un hombre muy ruin: tuvieron que pagar una multa porque llegaron tarde, las camas eran incómodas y los inquilinos no podían dormir bien, y en los desayunos se comía poco. Adrian no hacía más que pensar en Pandora.

George Mole received a letter write by his boss; it was to attract his attention because Mr Mole came early at home every day. The following days, Mr Mole worked harder and he returned to home very late.
The Mole came to Pandora’s house to tell her and her parents the things that they would have to do in Bert’s house while they were on holidays. Pandora couldn’t go with Adrian, because her father didn’t want to pay the travel cost and Pandora didn’t have any money for her own. Adrian would be alone with his family.
Mrs Mole was very proud of her growing bump. When someone came to visit them, she showed her bump. Adrian couldn’t see that so he left the room and she went to his bedroom.
“Rio Grande” was a private house and Bernard Porke was its owner. The different rooms were rented to different families; the living room and the kitchen were the common rooms. Mr Porke was a ruin man: they had to pay a fine because they arrived late, the beds were uncomfortable and people couldn’t sleep well, and there was a little food at breakfast. Adrian missed Pandora.

- Why didn’t Pandora’s father, or Pandora herself, pay for the holyday in Skegness? Because her faher had some money for their holidays in September, so he wouldn’t pay for another holidays to Pandora. And Pandora didn’t have any money for her own; she spent all her money buying strings for her viola.
- Describe Bernard Porke. I think Mr Porke is a ruin man: Adrian and his family had to pay a fine because they arrived late, the beds were uncomfortable and people couldn’t sleep well, and there was a little food at breakfast. Mr Porke only thought about money.
